I’ve been a Retrospec’d customer for many years now and this is the first time I’ve been completely disappointed with one of their usually beautiful dresses. First the positives, the print was beautiful as usual, and it was nice to have a slightly lighter weight fabric for hotter weather. The downside however, the cut, was completely terrible. I don’t know if perhaps the one I received was a second, but the style did not match the pictures at all. It looks rather similar in shape to the ‘Vivian’ which I have in a few prints, and the style looks fittted at the waist in all the pictures. This was not the case with the dress I received however. The fit is almost empire line with the waist section being very high and narrow and the waist is lost as the dress has already begun to flare out. I would go so far as to say the dress (for me) is unwearable as the cut is completely unflattering and not as per the pictures. As an overseas customer can’t really return, so I’m stuck with a dress I can’t wear! Bear this in mind ladies, and perhaps just stick to the ‘Vivian’ in the future the ‘Kathleen’ still has a lot of design kinks to be ironed out!
